Student Publications
CNU's campus is rich with publication opportunities for writers of all levels.
Currents Literary Magazine is CNU's oldest student-run journal and has been continuously published since the late 1960s. Half of the journal features selected literary works, such as poetry and short stories, and the other half features images of artwork, such as photography, paintings, and sculpture. The literary and art editors and their staff work from late August to mid April putting together this stellar journal and invite you to submit your work and/or volunteer to help in production.
The Captain's Log, the school's
weekly newspaper has been offering student authors and photographers a variety
of publishing options since 1963. The editors and staff feel strongly about its
obligations to serve the campus, provide a forum for student opinion, deliver
campus news and events, and maintain ethical journalistic practices. Students
who work for The Captain's Log receive real-world experience in the
responsibilities involved in producing such a quality venue.
Lookout: A Creative Nonfiction
Magazine is CNU's online journal where students publish literary
nonfiction, which it defines as essay, narrative journalism, memoir, and storytelling. The youngest of the three, Lookout published its first issue in Fall, 2003. The most recent issue features a photograph shot by a CNU student on the Appalachian Trail.
