Are there internships for English majors?

Some of our juniors and seniors take the opportunity to increase their professional development by pursuing personal interests in journalism, public relations and technical writing by choosing an English department writing concentration internship.

The English Department at Christopher Newport University is extending an invitation to our juniors and seniors to apply for our internship program in three unique writing concentrations. You can earn three credit hours towards your degree with our internships in Journalism, Public Relations and Technical Writing while gaining valuable real-world career experience.

The internship program supplements the coursework that has already been successfully completed, by providing unique career opportunities while completing your studies.

Our students have worked in a variety of settings both on campus and in the neighboring community as reporters, public relations specialists and grant writers. Our interns have worked at The Daily Press, offices on campus, as well as local nonprofit organizational chapters such as Habitat for Humanity.
